Hello, I am Mark - a full time professional photographer with nearly 15 years of experience as a wedding photographer, family portrait, music/band, commercial and documentary travel photographer and photojournalist.  Based in Lanarkshire (within an hour of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dumfries, Ayr and Stirling), I travel over Scotland and further afield offering natural, relaxed, journalistic type storytelling imagery with an artistic twist.

In a previous life, I gained a degree in geography and then became a puppeteer.  Then shortly before my partner Donna and I started our family, I returned to study photography for two years in Glasgow and set up Archibald Photography in 2003.  I still love what I do and no two days are the same.  I get to spend the happiest day of couple's lives with them as a wedding photographer - photographing connections, capturing little moments, creating gorgeous relaxed photos, making memories and noticing all the little things that should be captured forever.

When I am not photographing weddings, I am involved with family portrait photography or working with art directors to create alternative music and band images.  I have a particular love for shooting fine art black and white abstracts and I incorporate landscape and architecture into my images in creative ways.  And when I am not working as a photographer, I love to spend time with Donna and my two kids, Jack and Hannah, exploring Scotland - usually always with a camera around my neck!

Most people who book me say they hate having their photograph taken.  But with my easy going approach and ability to mingle with family and guests capturing moments as they happen, I can put even the most self conscious subject at ease.  My photographs capture feelings and properly document a wedding day as a story which can be relived through photographs for years to come.

Archibald Photography has won numerous awards over the years for wedding photography, fashion imagery and customer service.  My images have appeared in numerous publications from wedding images gracing front covers of magazines to documentary travel photography being featured in international publications.

Please get in touch to discuss your photography plans and ideas.  I look forward to hearing from you.
